Respondents noted that temptations were most powerful when they had neglected their time with God (81 percent) and when they were physically tired (57 percent). Resisting temptation was achieved through prayer (84 percent), avoiding compromising situations (76 percent), studying the Bible (66 percent) and being accountable to someone (52 percent). The challenge is that we will have to free people to be obedient to God's impulses without accepting those impulses as the responsibility of the church. Each challenge will require us to give up something that is familiar to us in order to discover a new, healthier approach that makes new, healthier disciples.
